Jumpers for Goalposts

At first glance, these goalmouth landscapes do not seem to reveal much. However, upon closer study, things start popping out; elephant dung, a washing line decorated with gleefully coloured shirts, people commuting to work, the footprints of yesterday’s game etched into a lunar landscape. These are everyday scenes, packed with clues about the way life is lived in those particular villages and towns.

There are pristine pitches in ‘developed’ areas and there are wonky wooden posts off the beaten track, they all have beauty, energy and familiarity.

They are people’s stadiums, where their wildest dreams can be louder than in sleep.
